A Very Special Lec-Dem At A Very Special Event

A very special event- ‘Pranaam’ - was held at Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal on December 22 and 23, 2007. The event was organised jointly by Madhukali, Bhopal, Srutimudra, Sagar and Omenad, Indore. The event comprised an evening of annual awards to young musicians followed by evening concerts, and a symposium on Innovations and methods of teaching music. Mr Raj Narayan, MD of Radel, and Radhika Raj Narayan were invited to present a paper and presentations on the history of electronic and digital instruments invented at Radel.
The presentation on the swarmandal was itself an innovation, where Mr Raj Narayan played the Swaroopini swarmandal like a Santoor, with Radhika accompanying him on the Taalmala digi-100. The brief alap, jod and jhala were followed by a short ‘cheez’ where the tabla accompaniment provided fill-ins at every other chakkar, ending with a grand tihai. The lec-dem drew thunderous applause from the erudite audience present. The audience appreciated not only the lec-dem (‘by the inventor himself’, as one lecturer put it), but also the extraordinary products from Radel and the decades of research in producing them.

Mr. Manjunath,

I did visit India and your service center at Dadar in January. I just wanted
to let you know that the machine was fixed by them, the service was
excellent and the people there were very very courteous.
Thank you!!

Hi,

I am very touched by the concept of using real technology to solve the problems of students of music and professional musicians . I think that your company is doing "real innovation" whose use is for professionals and the common man.

Keep up the good work and await to see more such innovations from you.

Regards

John Lennon on the Sunadavinodini?

No! It is Mr Steve Brantseg, an accomplished vainika, disciple of Vidushi Nirmala Rajashekhar. He performs classical carnatic music on the veena and also uses it for fusion music sessions.

Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan, Jalandhar

Radel participated in the Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan, at Jalandhar in December 2007. This is the oldest music festival in India, and attracts the greatest names in Indian music to perform at the event. The Swaroopini was a hit there too.

Chennai Music Season Dec 2007

Prominent musicians and connoisseurs from all over the world converge on Chennai during the ‘season’ as it is called, every year in December. In Chennai, the most ‘happening’ place is the Mecca of Carnatic music, the Music Academy. The Radel stall at the Music Academy drew huge crowds and we were honoured by some of the greatest names in music, visiting our stall. We present a selection of photos. The one and only Dr M Balamuralikrishna honours Radel with a visit to the display stall.
